The Three Keys To Perfect Alignment
Hey, before I get into the three pillars of alignment, I wanted to let you in on something!
I have almost finished putting together an in-depth, on-demand meditation video course. It’ll be ready later this month.
It’s a blend of theoretical and practical lessons.
During the course, I share 3 powerful methods of meditation that can be used to carry yourself into great depths. One is also a powerful method of self-enquiry, perfect for those of you with a spiritual interest.
If you PRE-REGISTER using the button below, you’ll get 20% off the course when it launches. There’s also no obligation to do anything if you don’t want it.
We all have three pillars to take care of.
There’s our physical life, which of course is related to the body and the five senses. In the book ‘Right Life’ written about the life of a great sage, the Shivapuri Baba, he talks about the importance of maintaining balance in the body.
Moderating our food intake, sleep, speech, actions, and keeping the body as good and strong as possible. Nothing though, should be taken to one extreme or the other. Each component needs to be regulated and balanced.
Why? I hear you ask.
Well, we are (or should strive to be) the masters of ourselves. It is only the voice of our lower self that takes us away from balance, be it through greed, laziness or some other lower trait.
When we can regulate of physical life, we are living in alignment with our higher self.
The second pillar is our mental life, this is related to cultivating the good ‘natures’ in the mind. The Shivapuri Baba explains how the mind needs to be trained to be both strong & pure.
Purity of mind is cultivated by disregarding lower natures such as fear, jealousy, anger etc. Then developing natures within the mind such as fearlessness, straightforwardness, selflessness and so on.
A strong mind is separate, this is developed by overcoming inner resistance time and time again. Some people have a strong mind, but are still dominated by lower natures & visa versa. In the teachings of the SB, Both purity & strength should be developed. Alongside this, the SB says the mind should be directed towards a higher power (which he calls God). This, he says, is the only attachment that man should have. This is the final goal and destination, to see God and to Merge back with that source.
The third pillar is man’s spiritual life, the supreme task of which is to attain Self-realization. For this, meditation is key. When the body and mind are aligned, meditation becomes very easy, and the progression towards realisation happens more smoothly.
Really, meditation is a term that we use to describe the process of moving from body consciousness, into expanded consciousness. It’s the process of closing down the physical and experiencing the spiritual.
Of course, we have to accept that we are human and mistakes are bound to happen. This is okay. Trying to align whilst accepting that you will make errors is a useful understanding to have.
Let me know your thoughts on the Shivapuri Baba’s approach!
Take care,
Ben
